Give a man a Fish…..or teach him how to direct file?

We have a very extensive sales team speaking with companies looking into the possibilities of filing their Customs entries in-house. As our company expands, so does our need for dedicated sales executives. We train our new sales members in a 3 step course. They have to have a few appetizers before they get to the main course in order for them to fully appreciate the heartiness of the main dish. That being direct filing.

First they learn the ropes of assisting importers with placing their Customs bond direct through TRG. This gives them a feel of how our clients think and where they are looking to save money in their importing practices. The bond is pretty straight forward and the sales executives really enjoy helping importers with the easy transition. Next they move to TRG Marine’s cargo insurance. Again, insurance is pretty straight forward, look at what you are currently paying and what type of coverage you need then compare claims mitigation processes with the different providers, yadda yadda yadda, make a decision. What gives you more bang for your buck? Probably TRG Marine, but that’s me just being biased! :)

Then they move to duhdunnada…direct filing! This is my favorite service/product of TRG’s offering. This is where the subject of this post comes from. The way I see it. If an importer is not filing in-house, he/she will continue through the life of the company on a fish a day rather than learning how to catch the fish on its own. Maybe that doesn’t make as much sense, but it all comes down to outsourcing. With direct filing importers can file their Customs entries in-house at over half the cost as filing through a broker, will have more control over the process and the know-how to make things better in the overall process and thus increasing compliance with US Customs. Deep breath. So that’s what we teach our sales people as they move toward helping importers understand this service. TRG as a whole truely believes in this service and that it is the best solution available. That is where success stems from.
